Hard work is the basis for everything worthwhile you will achieve in life.
It is a term that means different things to different people:
☛ Applying your ability with focus and intensity
☛ Any activity that you don't want to do
☛ Any activity that you find difficult and strenuous
Distinguishing these concepts sorta takes the fun out of arguing about them.

If work is applying your ability, then hard work is applying your ability with focus and intensity to the exclusion of other possibilities:
☛ Farming is hard work because you can not take a vacation in the summer.
☛ Extreme programming is hard work because your customer, your group and your partner all direct your attention.
☛ Cheating on your spouse is hard work because you can never relax and just be yourself.
☛ Writing wiky is easy work, perhaps the easiest writing of consequence ever invented.

Employers are constantly on the lookout for for hard-working employees. A brief description of a hard working employee is one who makes the most of her time and who consistently produces good work. Beyond this description, a hard-working employee exhibits the traits of productivity, motivation, dedication and self-reliance.

A hard-working employee stays focused on the tasks before her and spends little time chatting with other employees. Her work is consistently of acceptable to excellent quality and she looks for more work if everything assigned to her is done. You will not catch a hard-working employee browsing the Internet for shoe sales or downloading the latest and greatest hits from her favorite musicians. She is at work to do exactly that work.

This employee is motivated to the best job s/he can. S/he shows up to work on time and takes her breaks on time. S/he eagerly looks forward to any training that might help her do better and s/he is the first to volunteer for new projects. S/he is reliable and consistently meets deadlines and production goals. His/Her employer depends on her optimal efforts to help him succeed and is seldom disappointed.

No matter how hard an employee works, if she requires constant supervision and error correction then her employer will not likely see her as an asset. This means the tenacious employee must make an extra effort to be self-reliant and accurate. This does not mean she should be afraid to ask for help or additional training as needed but it does mean that once she is trained, she can handle her daily tasks without hand-holding by her supervisor.

We can define smart work as a Work which can be done on right way and on right path. A work in which we put our effort in such a way so that we can be certain about good results. In hard work we work but without any direction, so in this way results or success becomes unsure.

One who is ready to get his hands dirty and sweats hard. One who accepts the challenges set before him and does not complain and one who completes his job and tasks.

Dedication to the employer and focus makes this worker an asset to the company. She is ethically motivated to provide an honest day of work for her wages. She takes pride in her abilities. Periodic recognition for her efforts will reinforce her actions. She may be willing to take on additional responsibilities but may over-extend herself in an attempt to be more helpful. This employee may be a candidate for a promotion or she may be happy where she is. A supervisor will want to discuss future growth with the employee and assess what path is best for both the employee and the company.

This is a big part of learning to be a hard worker. If you start early, you will learn more about this skill and get better at it.

Ask others if they could use your help. Also, ask for help if you do not understand. By doing this, people will recognize you more as a helper. When you help them, work as hard as you can.

If you are too selfish, you will not be as hardworking. You always need to think of others when you are working.

If you have an idea when working on a project, share it! People that are hardworking contribute to their projects by giving new ideas. Your idea may lead to something incredible and this will improve other's thoughts of you.

If at first you do not succeed, try again! You should always persevere. Do not ever give up because this is a big part of being hardworking. Hard workers never give up and this is what helps build upon the skill. Remember, for any positive thing you want to do, always put it in your mind that "yes you can".

Once you start working your hardest all the time, keep doing it! You should try to get even better. Learning will always help you and perseverance will too.

There are hardworking people all around us. You should try to act similar to the way they do because you will learn from them. You can learn from anyone.

Hard workers generally thought of as those who work more physically than mentally. In your resume it is better to use the word "smart worker", "productive worker" or "efficient worker". In other words, let it be known that you are a skilled person.

☛ Do not depend on your talent. Remember that hardworking beats the talent. Once you depend on your talent, you start to become lazy and a procrastinator.
☛ Do not get too cocky. Once you get to be an excellent hard worker, just keep doing it. You should not brag about yourself because you are hardworking. Many people do not like someone that thinks extremely highly of themselves and is too selfish.
