Macromedia Flash and Shockwave Flash:

Adobe Flash (formerly called Macromedia Flash and Shockwave Flash) is a multimedia and software platform used for creating vector graphics, animation, games and rich Internet applications (RIAs) that can be viewed, played and executed in Adobe Flash Player.
Macromedia Flash, also known as Adobe Flash or Shockwave Flash, has became a popular program to create animations, advertisements, web pages and presentations since its introduction in 1996.Now, it is even used to program games and internet applications. Macromedia Flash contains a scripting language called Action Script.  The program Flash was the brain child of Jonathan Gay, who developed the idea in college and developed the software while working for Silicon Beach Software.
